Vassilis G. Gorgoulis, Konstantinos Vougas and colleagues recently published in Pharmacology and Therapeutics a focused overview on machine learning and the ability of these algorithms to integrate big “omic” data into effective models capable to predict drug-response for cancer patients. Within this frame the authors also present their own pioneering in silico pipeline based on Association Rule Mining, for identifying genes as candidate drivers of drug response in cancer.
