In this work, we used RNA-sequencing of whole-blood samples and subsequent bioinformatic analysis to explore the non-coding transcriptome of Lupus Nephritis patients and highlight long non-coding RNAs that could be promising biomarkers of disease activity. This could eventually be translated into a blood-based "liquid biopsy" that will replace the current approach which is invasive and risky kidney biopsies.
A network-based approach reveals long non-coding RNAs associated with disease activity in lupus nephritis: key pathways for flare and potential biomarkers to be used as liquid biopsies.
