Research Highlights :A fluorophore-conjugated reagent enabling rapid detection, isolation and live tracking of senescent cells

Vassilis G. Gorgoulis and collaborators published a research article in Molecular Cell

The authors developed a new chemical compound (GLF16) that allows for the first time the identification and visualization of senescent cells in live cells and organisms. Importantly, GLF16 is particularly suitable for the isolation of live senescent cells enabling the detailed characterization of their genome and epigenome at the single-cell level, thus unlocking the design of clinically meaningful therapeutic interventions in pathologic entities where cellular senescence is involved.
