Επιστημονικά Επιτεύγματα :CRH Promotes the Neurogenic Activity of Neural Stem Cells in the Adult Hippocampus

Katia Catherine Karalis and Colleagues recently published a study in Cell Reports

Katia Catherine Karalis and colleagues (Yassemi Koutmani and Katia P. Karalis are co-coresponding authors) recently published in Cell Reports a study demonstrating a novel role for the major stress mediator CRH, in adult neural stem cells homeostasis. Particularly, the authors showed that CRH directly stimulates hippocampal neural stem cells activity through a BMP4-mediated mechanism affecting their responsiveness to environmental stimuli. They also showed conserved expression of CRH/CRHRs system in humans. Since adult hippocampal neurogenesis is involved in important cognitive functions such as memory and learning, this work depicts the CRH/CRH receptors system as a potential therapeutic target for brain disorders.
