Vassilis Gorgoulis and collaborators published a perspective/resource article in Cell that, for the first time, provides a broadly accepted definition of cellular senescence, the hallmarks of senescent cells and guidelines for the accurate detection of these cells in a wide range of biological samples. Moreover, the manuscript also provides a free online search web tool that facilitates the identification of genes related to senescence.
