	Dimitris T. Boumpas, MD, FACP, FACR Principal Investigator - Group Leader Dimitrios T. Boumpas graduated from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina in 1983. Following a fellowship in Molecular Immunology at National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda MD, he trained in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University, Washington DC and in Rheumatology-Clinical Immunology at ARB, NIAMS, NIH. Upon the completion of his training, he was appointed an Investigator at ARB, NIAMS, NIH and he served as Deputy and Acting Clinical Director at NIAMS, before he repatriated to the University of Crete to lead the Departments of Rheumatology, Clinical immunology and Allergy, and Internal Medicine. In Crete, Professor Boumpas has served as Associate Dean for the Undergraduate Studies and Directs the Graduate Program on the Molecular Basis of Human Diseases at the Medical School. He is also a member of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, FORTH Greece and the Institute for Biomedical Research of the Academy of Athens. 	Aggelos Banos, MD, PhD Post-Doctoral Fellow I am also a Resident of Internal Medicine (Hippokrateion University Hospital, Athens, Greece). I have obtained a Bachelor Degree in Biology (University of Athens) and PhD title in Medicine (Medical School, University of Athens). My major research interests include molecular clustering of autoimmune diseases through -omics technologies, with special focus in SLE and vasculitis. My current work is focusing on analysis of hematopoietic stem cells and “trained immunity” in SLE patients and mouse models. My past research studies involved nuclear architecture and chromatin rearrangements in antiviral response and transcriptomic analysis of various primary cells in SLE context. 	Anastasia Filia, PhD Post-Doctoral Fellow I am a postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics. I am leading the analysis of bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data for the identification of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and the role of haematopoietic stem cells in SLE. I am also exploring the integration of multi-omic data towards the same goal. I hold a BSc in Molecular Biology & Genetics and a PhD in Cancer Genetics. During my PhD at University of Leeds, UK and previous postdoctoral placements at Imperial College, London, UK and University College London, UK my role was both wet lab and bioinformatic to identify biological processes implicated in melanoma and the regenerative process of the avian inner ear following hearing loss. 	Maria Grigoriou, PhD Post-Doctoral Fellow I am a Molecular biologist (University of Crete) with MSc in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (University of Crete-School of Medicine). I have obtained my PhD title in Medicine (Medical School, University of Athens) regarding the molecular and functional profile of hematopoietic stem cells in the context of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus which has been funded by IKY Fellowship. 	Stavros Doumas, MD PhD candicate I am an aspiring physician-scientist who received his MD from Athens Medical School in 2018. Following my graduation, I enrolled in the MSc “Molecular Biomedicine” in order to expand my research skill set and acquire bench experience. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. investigating the role of extramedullary hematopoiesis in systemic inflammatory diseases. My academic interests are focused on understanding immune cell dysfunction, through the identification of deregulated mechanisms, with the intent of expanding inflammatory disease therapeutic armamentarium. My ultimate goal is to pursue a career in academic Medicine having both clinical and research duties.
	Alexandros Grivas, MD PhD candicate I am working on molecular and transcriptomic analysis of Psoriatic Arthritis. Holds a Medical Degree from the University of Athens and aims to become a physician scientist in the field of Rheumatology. 	Panagiotis Garantziotis, MD PhD candidate Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the field of bioinformatics. My scholarly concerns are focused on the establishment of novel translational platforms that will allow a more thorough molecular stratification of patients with autoimmune diseases and will facilitate more effective disease monitoring. To address these complex scientific questions, I employ a combination of experimental and large scale computational approaches, such as state of the art genomic technologies and high performance bioinformatic processing of various -Omics high-thoughput data.
	Dora Manolakou, MSc PhD candidate I am a Biotechnologist (AUA Univ.) with a MSc in Molecular Biomedicine (Med. School, UoA), currently pursuing a PhD on the DNA damage response in SLE at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA). I have received extensive multidisciplinary training from academic groups in Greece (BSRC “Alexander Fleming”, BRFAA) and in France (IGH- CNRS, LBDV- CNRS, UPMC). 	Dionysis Nikolopoulos, MD PhD candidate Holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Athens, Greece. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD on the pathogenesis of Neuropsychiatric lupus at the Biomedical Research Foundation of Academy of Athens. In 2016, I became interested in rheumatology and joined the Rheumatology clinic at Attikon University Hospital. Since then, I’ve been involved in many clinical projects and organized various lupus cohorts along with extensive biobanking. Currently, I am also a physician and research assistant in Lupus Clinic at Attikon University Hospital. 	Eirini Stergioti PhD candidate I am a Chemist currently pursuing a Ph.D. on the molecular mechanisms of monocytes in the pathogenesis of SLE, at the University of Athens, Greece. I hold a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Patras (UoP) and an MSc in Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Diagnosis from the University of Athens (UoA). My research interests lie in the field of inflammation and autoimmunity, and more specifically, in the development of novel diagnostic approaches for clinical applications. I have received extensive multidisciplinary training and have participated in collaborations with academic groups both in Athens, Greece and in Paris, France.
	Eleni Frangou, MD, PhD Research Fellow Holds a medical diploma from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina and was board certified in Nephrology after residency in internal medicine and nephrology at the Athens General Hospital G. Gennimatas. She holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Molecular Medicine and a philosophy degree (PhD) in Medicine from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Currently, she is a Nephrologist at Limassol General Hospital. She seeks to (a) elucidate novel cellular mechanisms that link inflammation and tissue remodeling in kidneys (b) reveal molecular pathways to be used as biomarkers for early pre-symptomatic diagnosis of kidney injury and (c) identify novel targets for precise personalized therapy in chronic kidney disease.
	Antonis Fanouriakis, MD, PhD Research Fellow I am a consultant rheumatologist with a MSc in Molecular Medicine and have completed my Thesis on the diagnosis and management of neuropsychiatric Systemic Lupus Erythematous (both in the University of Crete, School of Medicine). My scientific interests focus on clinical outcomes and treatment of SLE.
	Nikos Malissovas, PhD Lab manager I am a molecular biologist and currently the Lab Manager of the Inflammation and Autoimmunity laboratory in BRFAA. I hold a BSc in Biochemistry and Biotechnology and PhD diploma from the department of Medical school, University of Crete. My research interests include the development of fish “avatars” of human SLE by xenotransplanting patient cells in zebrafish larvae. The larval zebrafish offers a system in which cell dynamics can be observed while sharing key cellular and structural characteristics with the mammalian organs.
