Dr. Pappa is Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Athens School of Medicine and Research Affiliate of the Cell and Gene Therapy Laboratory of the Foundation for Biomedical Research of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA). She is Chief of the Colposcopy Clinic, the Metabolic Disorders in Pregnancy Clinic which is highly specialized in gestational diabetes and the Lourou Gynecological Wing at the Alexandra Hospital of Athens. She is the Director of the MSc Program at the University of Athens School of Medicine entitled as “Translational Research in Women’s Health”.

She received her MD degree (1994) from the University of Patras School of Medicine and her PhD degree (2004) from the University of Crete School of Medicine. She specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology (1998-2003) and received her Board Certification in 2003. During her Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, she received as a Visiting Clinician, extensive training on the clinical aspects of gynecological oncology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgical Service and Colposcopy Clinic of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a Fellowship in systematic training in colposcopy techniques and therapeutic laser applications at the General Gynecology and Colposcopy Clinic–Gynecologic Oncology of the UCLA-Harbor Medical Center in Los Angeles, California (2002). Upon her specialty completion, she joined as Research Affiliate the Laboratory of Biology of the University of Athens School of Medicine and the Cell and Gene Therapy Laboratory of the Foundation for Biomedical Research of the Academy of Athens, where she was formally trained in advanced technologies of molecular and cell biology. Her research has received 5 merit awards; she has participated as Principal Investigator in 6, and as co-Investigator in 8 national and EU-funded Research Programs. She is a member of 2 Committees and 8 Scientific Societies, a member of Editorial Committees in 2 Scientific Journals and she has contributed with 6 Chapters in scientific books. She is the author of 44 original peer-reviewed publications, which have received more than 2,490 citations, with an h Index 23.
