News :Maria Xilouri awarded for her work in Multiple System Atrophy (MSA)

 

BRFAA’s Maria Xilouri (Investigator, Assistant Professor Level in the field of Neuroscience) has been awarded two prestigious grants from two independent foundations for her work in Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) research, receiving the high score for the 2019 grant round in both foundations.  One grant was awarded from MSATRUST (UK) and the other from MSA Coalition (USA) .

Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder that typically affects the elderly population, and specifically their involuntary functions.  It is caused by the death of nerve cells in the brain and is classified as synucleinopathy, similar to Parkinson’s Disease.
