Chromosome Instability and Telomere Dysfunction in Cancer and Continuous Growth

Abnormalities of chromosome number and structure are the most common genetic aberrations in neoplasia. The last decades, tumor formation and progress has been directly associated to the mechanisms regulating fidelity of mitotic chromosome transmission and telomeric integrity. Gagos group combines classical and molecular human, mouse, rat and zebrafish cytogenetics with molecular genetics and cell biology approaches to study in vivo and in vitro chromosomal instability and telomere dysfunction in neoplasia and continuous growth. Special emphasis is given to alternative mechanisms of telomere maintenance.
