Position Opportunities : Extention of Deadline until 22-5-2013 for the Call of Interest for One Funded PhD Candidate Position at the Division of Pharmacology-Pharmacotechnology

BRFAA is interested in employing a full-time PhD student for a research program entitled “PIK3CA Oncogenic Mutations in Breast and Colon Cancers: Development of Targeted Anticancer Drugs and Diagnostics”. The position is funded by the “Greek Ministry of Education” in the context of the “SYNERGASIA” grant program. The PhD student will develop advanced mass spectrometric approaches for the quantification and validation of biomarkers derived from proteomic studies and will investigate the mechanism of action of key bioactive molecules derived from screening efforts in the context of the program.

The candidates should have a Diploma in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biology or related discipline, excellent knowledge of the English language and computer skills.

Additionally the following skills and experience is desired from the ideal candidate:

  • Practical experience in bioanalytical chemistry with the use of modern analytical techniques (HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS/MS, nanoLC/nanoESI MS) and protocols used for protein extraction. 
  • Experience in cell culture techniques and viability assays.
  • Experience in in vitro και in vivo methods for drug metabolism studies.
  • Experience in pre-clinical studies and with the use of laboratory animals.
  • Experience with the use of pre-clinical models of disease and assessment of anticancer drugs.
