Brief Bio

Kostas Eleftheratos was born in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean (2000), received his MSc in Environmental Physics from the Department of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2002) and his PhD diploma on Geological and Geoenvironmental Sciences from the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2007). He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Environmental Effects on Health of the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (2008-2011). Lecturer of Atmospheric Physics at the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2012-2016) and Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Physics with applications to Climatology at the same department (2016-2022). He is affiliated investigator, faculty member, of the Center for Environmental Effects on Health of BRFAA. His research focuses on the changes in the composition of the atmosphere on short and long time and space scales (clouds, greenhouse gases, ozone, ultraviolet radiation, aerosols), the study of natural climatic oscillations, atmospheric effects from aircraft emissions, atmospheric pollution, changes in climatic parameters, and environmental effects on health. He has participated in 19 European and 16 national competitive research projects. He has authored or coauthored 42 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals, 14 papers in peer reviewed book chapters/newsletters, 17 papers in conference proceedings and more than 70 peer reviewed conference abstracts.
