News :Honorary Award to Nikos Kostomitsopoulos

 

 

Nikos Kostomitsopoulos, Senior Staff Researcher, was honored by the Vice-Rector of the University of Crete and organizer of the International Course on Care and Use of Laboratory Animals for his contribution to the welfare of laboratory animals.

The Department of Biology at the University of Crete, in collaboration with the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology, organized an honorary event on Friday, May 31, 2024. This event was part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Internatioal Course on the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

During the event, honorary awards were given to three distinguished collaborators of the program, who have stood out for their dedication to laboratory animal welfare and the promotion of ethical research. One of these esteemed individuals was BRFAA's Nikos Kostomitsopoulos, DVM, PhD, Staff Research Scientist A' in the Laboratory Animal Facility at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy.

Mr. Kostomitsopoulos has been recognized for his many years of significant contributions to the education and implementation of practices that promote the welfare of laboratory animals. His dedication to ethical research and animal care has been a source of inspiration for many colleagues and students.

The summer school is certified by the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA).
