News :Popi Syntichaki discusses the study of the phenomenon of aging

Popi Syntichaki, Investigator – Assistant Professor Level at BRFAA, was interviewed on the show 'Ανάδειξέ Το' and discussed the study of aging phenomenon, and how it is used in order to gain insight into human development and disease. Dr Syntichaki uses the nematode C. elegans as a model organism to study biological mechanisms/pathways that reduce the rate or extent of aging and postpone the age-related diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, cancer, and neurodegeneration. By researching the aging process we can, in time, increase life expectancy while simultaneously preserving the quality of human life.
