News :Leonidas Stefanis received a Research Excellence Grant Award

Leonidas Stefanis, Collaborating Scientist at the Neurodegenerative Diseases lab of BRFAA, received a Research Excellence Grant Award from the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Greek Ministry of Education for his work that focuses on understanding the role of Chaperone Mediated Autophagy (CMA) in the nervous system. Within this framework, the role of CMA in physiological procedures of nervous system development (such as neuronal differentiation), as well as in stress conditions, such as accumulation of toxic proteins, will be investigated. Findings of this study may lead to the development of novel therapeutic targets in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases, and in aging.
