New Imaging Technologies in Health and Disease
DATES & VENUE: 6-8 October 2011, Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, Athens, Greece
AIMS and SCOPE: The purpose of TranSMed is to support, improve, and integrate existing research infrastructure to boost the design and implementation of translational studies. Within this context, we organise a two day symposium on "NEW IMAGING TECHNOLOGIES IN HEALTH AND DISEASE". In doing this, our purpose is not only to enhance the awareness of the local scientific community on the existing and developing infrastructure, but also to provide a state-of-the-art review of the most modern techniques and methods in pre-clinical and translational imaging.
TOPICS: Multiphoton Microscopy, STED -Super resolution confocal microscopy, Second Harmonic Imaging, Live cell imaging sensors, Deconvolution microscopy, In Vivo Small Animal Imaging, Optical Projection Tomography, Optogenetics, Pre-Clinical Imaging (μPET, μCT), Mass Spectrometry (MALDI) Imaging, Hands-on Workshops. Lectures and workshops will be presented and discussed by local and international expert scientists.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
REGISTRATION:
The Lectures are free of charge and open to the public, but registration is mandatory in order to ensure adequate supplies of coffee. Please send your registration request by e-mail to spagakis@bioacademy.gr with the words "TRANSMED REGISTRATION" in the title.

WORKSHOPS
On Saturday October 8th, there will be two technical workshops. Attendance is free of charge but limited to a small number of participants. Registration will open on September 1st, and at that time a detailed syllabus of the workshops will be available on this site. Please send application request and motivation letter, indicating the reason for wanting to attend and level of expertise in confocal microscopy and ImageJ, to spagakis@bioacademy.gr by September 10th. Working knowledge of ImageJ (W1) or of confocal microscopy (W2) is required. In cases of equivalent evaluations, priority will be given to BRFAA scientists. The workshops will run in parallel, so please indicate which workshop you are applying for.
