Introduction into Systems Biology:

Basics of Proteomics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics

& Integration of Data Generated by these Fields

26 - 30 September 2011
Biomedical Research Foundation, Academy of Athens

There is a wealth of available biomedical information as reflected by the accumulation, on a daily basis, of data in different databases. The daily challenge is how to deal with all these data generated from high-throughput methods.

The first part of the course will focus on the presentation of the principles, experimental processes involved, output and respective informatics needs, of the most commonly used proteomics methodologies generating vast amount of data. The second part of the course will focus on how to manage, analyze and make sense of these data using state-of-the-art bioinformatics approaches.

It will provide opportunity for training in cutting-edge techniques in both fields, putting emphasis on their interplay and interdisciplinary understanding and skills: i.e., understanding experimental methodologies as well as in silico approaches.
