Brief Bio
Dr. Boudoulas obtained his medical degree (MD) and doctorate diploma from Aristotelian University, School of Medicine, Thessaloniki, Greece. He had his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at The Aristotelian University School of Medicine, and at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio, USA.
He has been a Professor of Internal Medicine/Cardiology since 1980 and Professor of Pharmacy since 1984 at The Ohio State University, USA. In 1998, he was elected Antepistellon member of the Academy of Athens. From 2002 he has been the Director of the Center for Clinical Research, and the Chairman of the Scientific Board, Biomedical Research Foundation at the Academy of Athens. In addition, since January 2005 he has been the President of the Hellenic Cardiological Society.
He has edited or co-edited 19 books/monographs in three languages and has published 190 chapters in numerous textbooks. He has more than 550 publications in 8 languages and more than 600 presentations in medical schools, academic centers and national/international conferences worldwide. Dr. Boudoulas is one of the few cardiologists that has published in all of the classic textbooks of cardiology, which have been used worldwide for decades.
He has served as editor, on the editorial board, or as a reviewer in more than 30 scientific journals.
He is one of a few researchers who has mastered clinical, experimental and basic research with publications in most cardiovascular medical and biological sciences journals; from Circulation to the Journal of Clinical Investigation and Nature Genetics. He is still actively involved, as he has been for the last several decades, in teaching and mentoring Students of Medicine. He has been actively involved in patient care and has been included in the list of Best Doctors in America.
He is an international authority in several areas of Cardiovascular Medicine and his research has resulted in changes of clinical practice in certain areas. Characteristic are the comments in the New England Journal of Medicine (1993; September 3, p. 73), where Dr. Boudoulas has been described as "One of the Renaissance People of Cardiology".
